The second tier of one-make Porsche racing in Australia was founded in 2008, and has evolved to become a crucial step on the Porsche ladder for driver progression.

The Townsville round has often provided the first street circuit experience for several drivers, and the first time racing on the Supercars support undercard.

A 22-strong field heads north, a largely unchanged line-up from the previous round at Queensland Raceway.

The field is bolstered with a cameo appearance from 2024 series champion Oscar Targett, making a one-off start in Lachy Harburg’s car.

Targett took two wins and a second place in his last visit to Townsville, and remains one to watch heading into the weekend.

Former series regular Ryan Suhle returns for the second consecutive round, with the Queenslander pushing to build on solid top 10 results at QR.

Kiwi Hunter Robb holds a narrow 14 point championship lead over Xavier Avramides, with the pair drawn together in contrasting seasons.

Robb has three race wins to his name to Avramides’ one, however the Jones Motorsport driver has finished outside the top six twice.

Avramides enters Townsville with four consecutive third place finishes, with sheer consistency keeping the Sonic Motor Racing driver in the fight.

A maiden race and round victory for Lincoln Taylor at QR sees him enter Townsville third in the standings, just 30 points adrift of the lead.

Kobi Williams sits fourth, just four points behind Taylor, however leads the Jim Richards Enduro Trophy standings having won two of the three races thus far.

Anthony Gilbertson headlines a nine-car Pro-Am field in Townsville, comfortably leading the championship having taken eight of nine class wins.

Carrera Cup Pro-Am and Bathurst 12 Hour regular Marc Cini makes his return to Sprint Challenge in Townsville, with the trek north becoming a regular for the veteran.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge hits the track for a pair of practice sessions on Friday, followed by a single sprint race on Saturday, and two races on Sunday, commencing with the 45-minute Enduro Trophy race.
